Scope
Applies to all RGA employees, contractors, consultants, and activities performed on behalf of the organisation.
Policy Statement
RGA requires individuals to be fit for work to perform duties safely, protect health and safety of self and others, and maintain legal compliance.
"RGA does not tolerate employees or contractors attending work while impaired by: Alcohol or drugs; Fatigue or lack of sleep that affects performance; Any medical condition that compromises safety, unless appropriately managed and disclosed"
Responsibilities
- Employees/Contractors must attend fit, report relevant conditions, follow medical guidance
- Managers/Supervisors must monitor fitness, provide support, escalate concerns
- HR must support interventions and maintain records
Procedures
Pre-employment checks include health questionnaires and occupational assessments; ongoing monitoring of performance and attendance occurs; compliance with the Drug and Alcohol Policy is required; medical conditions must be disclosed with reasonable adjustments considered.
Reporting and Support
Employees report concerns to managers or HR confidentially, with appropriate support provided.
Compliance
Non-compliance results in disciplinary action.
Review
Policy reviewed periodically for relevance and alignment with best practices.
