About RGA

Built to bring water and technology closer together.

RGA was founded on a simple observation: water businesses rarely lack engineering knowledge or technology. The gap is often between the two.

The gap we set out to close

Across major infrastructure programmes, RGA founder Robert Gauldie kept seeing the same problem. Organisations had experienced engineers and increasingly capable technology, but the two did not always work well together.

Data teams could build systems without fully understanding what the information represented in the field. Engineers could understand the asset and the operation in detail, but lack the tools to use that knowledge across thousands of assets, projects or decisions.

RGA was founded in 2018 to bring those skills closer together. The principle still shapes how we work today: understand the operational problem properly, stay close to the people dealing with it, and carry that understanding through into what gets built.

Why water

Since then, we have worked exclusively in water, across central functions, capital delivery, and repair and maintenance. Our work spans water companies and the infrastructure delivery partners that build and maintain their networks.

Staying focused on one sector means we understand more than the systems and data. We understand the context around them: how operational decisions get made, how programmes are delivered, what needs to stand up to scrutiny and why a technically correct answer still has to work for the people running the operation.

That depth of understanding is one of the reasons we have chosen to stay focused on water.

The people behind the work

RGA is led by Rob, a Chartered Civil Engineer with a background in major infrastructure delivery in the UK and internationally.

The wider RGA team brings experience spanning water, civil engineering, data engineering, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, reporting, applications and business change. Some came into technology from engineering and operations. Others built deep technical experience first and developed their water-sector knowledge through delivery.

That mix matters. The work often sits between operational knowledge and technical implementation, so we build teams around the problem rather than treating one discipline as separate from the other.

Leadership

Robert Gauldie

Managing Director and Founder

Rob brings 25 years of infrastructure experience, including two decades working across major programmes in the UK and internationally.

He founded RGA after repeatedly seeing the same gap between experienced operational teams and capable technology. He remains directly involved in client work, from the first conversation through to delivery.

Built around the work

Senior people stay involved

We work inside the problem

Strategy through to implementation

We keep delivery close to the people who understand the problem. Senior people stay involved, technical specialists work directly with client teams, and the work is shaped by what is actually happening in the operation.

That often means working inside a client's own systems and alongside the people using them day to day. It gives us a better view of where information breaks down, where manual work has become normal, and where a technically sound solution may still fail in practice.

We can support the work from early strategy through to implementation, but we do not assume every engagement needs the same shape. Some start with a specific problem to solve. Others develop over time as the underlying data, systems and opportunities become clearer.

The aim is the same: leave behind something that works in the client's environment and can keep delivering value after the engagement ends.
